The Threaded Path is a podcast and video series of conversations with Cambodian artists and cultural practitioners around the world.[1] Its founder and host, the Cambodian American soprano Amara Goel, traces with each guest how their craft connects art, heritage, belonging and memory.[2][1][3]

Origins

Goel conceived the series during Acts of Memory in 2025, the global commemoration of fifty years since the fall of Phnom Penh, which Cambodian Living Arts organized with communities in Cambodia, Australia, France, the United States and Canada. She saw the need for a lasting conversation across generations, places and disciplines.[2][4]

The name recalls the Cambodian borderlands, where strangers tied strips of cloth to branches and posts to mark a safe path through the landmines to the refugee camps in Thailand.[2] The series carries the line "The paths we inherit. The stories we stitch."[1]

Season 1: Phnom Penh

The first season, Phnom Penh: City of Rooted & Returning Voices, is planned as ten episodes with artists, cultural practitioners and changemakers of Phnom Penh, in music, film, literature, design, interdisciplinary work and cultural leadership.[5] The trailer appeared on August 26, 2026.[3]
