Khmer Voices is a podcast of conversations with members of the Cambodian diaspora around the world about their journeys, upbringing, successes and failures.[1] Its creator is Vanny Whitchelo.[2]

The show

The show began in 2024. Its creator grew up in Canada and started the show because few professional stories reflected that experience. The show sets out to celebrate and amplify Khmer voices.[1] Conversations cover cultural identity, careers, community life and creative work, including Cambodian music, Khmer linguistics and life in the diaspora.[1]

As of May 2026 the show had released 42 episodes over two seasons.[1] Recent guests in Season 2 included Chankrisna Chea, founder of the Khmer learning platform ReanKhmer; Marie, founder of Khmer Era, on growing up in Cambodia in a French bubble; and Borey Chau, a rapper, community builder and mechanical engineer. Episode 17 gathered interviews with seven people at the Khmer Diaspora Conference, held in Lowell, Massachusetts, from March 27 to 29, 2026, and organized by Christine Su. Episode 18 summarized the conference keynote by Dr. Kara Uy Has, "Memory, Healing, and the Work of Becoming."[1]

The show recommends other podcasts, among them Death in Cambodia, Life in America, Khmer Tree Podcast, The Bánh Mì Chronicles and How To Change The World Podcast.[1]
