Wat

Wat Saddhadhiga Uticaram is a Khmer Buddhist temple on Steuben Street in Utica, New York.[1] It is also known as Wat Satheathek Uticaram, the Khmer Buddhist Temple of Utica.[2][3]

History

The temple was built in 2005 for the Cambodian refugees who had settled in Utica.[2]

Religious life

The temple follows Theravada Buddhism, and worship is held in Khmer. Monks preside over its ceremonies, and the Venerable Chamreun Khorl is its abbot and president.[2] Ceremonies take place every week, and the temple regularly celebrates the major Buddhist holidays. Each morning at about 11 a.m., a small group from the community gathers to worship and offer alms to the monks.[2]

In 2012 Temple News listed the telephone number 315.735.3599 and the email temple1552@yahoo.com.[1] The temple's earlier website was www.khmertempleutica.org.[1]
