Wat
Wat Preah Ang Thom
Wat Preah Ang Thom (វត្តវិបស្សនារាម ព្រះអង្គធំ, Wat Vipassanarama Preah Ang Thom) is a Theravada Khmer Buddhist temple on Bryant Road in Spartanburg, South Carolina.[1][2] It is also known as the Spartanburg Buddhist Center.[3][4]
Religious life
Resident monks lead the temple's religious services, and four monks were listed there in 2026.[2][1] Chanting and meditation are held every evening at 8 p.m. in Pali and Khmer, in the yellow and red building. A meditation group for English speakers meets on Thursdays at 6 p.m. in the tan and red hall, with basic instruction and group discussion.[2]
The monks give Dhamma talks in Khmer, blessings, counsel, and teaching in meditation and the Buddhist precepts. The temple also holds merit-making, weddings, funerals, and holidays and festivals on its grounds.[2]
Visiting
The temple is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. General offerings are received at any time, and meal offerings are made before 11 a.m.[2]
Associations
Spartanburg Buddhist Center Of South Carolina, Inc. (associated organization).[5]
The temple directories explicitly pair Wat Preah Ang Thom with Spartanburg Buddhist Center. The 2014 edition gives the longer incorporated name; no ownership role is inferred. eListing.us gives Wat Preah Ang Thom as the doing-business-as name of Spartanburg Buddhist Center of SC Inc.
