Wat
Wat Glory
Wat Glory (វត្តពន្លឺពុទ្ធចក្ក), also known as Glory Buddhist Temple, is a Khmer Theravada Buddhist temple in Lowell, Massachusetts.[1][2] Cambodian monks lead the temple, which serves Lowell's Cambodian community and welcomes others who want to learn Buddhist teachings.[1] The temple calls itself a cornerstone of that community and a bridge between Cambodian culture and Buddhist practice.[1]
History
The temple has been listed at 24 Cambridge Street in Lowell since at least 2014, with the telephone number (978) 458-0498.[3] As of 2024, its abbot and teacher was the Venerable Vijasampanno Chhuom Bo.[4][5] In 2026 a directory of Cambodian temples in the United States listed two monks there.[2]
Religious life
The temple keeps the traditions of Theravada Buddhism and works to preserve and share Cambodian Buddhist traditions and cultural heritage.[1] Prayer services are held every weekend from 9 a.m. to noon, with chanting, offerings and blessings. Every Sunday the temple also offers meditation practice and teaching on Buddhist philosophy.[1] Special ceremonies, cultural celebrations and community gatherings take place throughout the year.[1]
Visiting
The temple is open daily for prayer and visits, and it asks visitors to be mindful and respectful.[1]
