Wat

Wat Dhammarangsey is a Theravada Khmer Buddhist temple on SW Stafford Road in West Linn, Oregon, founded by the Oregon Cambodian Buddhist Society in 1978.[1] Its name means "Light of the Dhamma."[1]

History

The Oregon Cambodian Buddhist Society founded the temple in 1978 and still supports it. It first met in a house in Beaverton, Oregon. In 1982 the Cambodian community raised the money to buy land in West Linn, where the temple stands today.[1] The grounds hold khot, sala and vihear buildings.[1]

Religious life

Wat Dhammarangsey is a nonprofit organization. It promotes Theravada Buddhism and offers cultural festivals and spiritual guidance to anyone who is interested.[1]

Community

The Cambodian American Community of Oregon lists the temple, as Wat Dhammarangsi, among its community resources.[2] The Cambodian American Community Council of Washington lists it among the Khmer temples in Oregon.[3]

Associations

Oregon Cambodian Buddhist Society (supporting organization).[4]

The temple's own website explicitly states that Wat Dhammarangsey was founded and is supported by Oregon Cambodian Buddhist Society. The older combined title shortened the society's name to Oregon Buddhist Society.
