About the release

Apple Music dates the album to April 27, 2010. It credits the recording as ℗ 2010 Baramey Production / EMPIRE.[3][1][2]

The band

Laura Mam formed The Like Me's after she graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. The Phnom Penh Post, in 2013, called it an all-female rock group formed in Cambodia.[2] A 2011 report instead placed the Khmer-influenced pop band in San Jose, California.[4] In 2011 the band had four women. Laura Mam was lead guitarist and singer. The other members were Cambodian-born Helena Hong and the Filipinas Monique Coquilla and Loren Alonzo.[4] The band played classic Khmer hits from the 1960s alongside R&B songs and its own music. One of its big hits was a version of "Sva Rom Monkiss."[4]

In early 2011 the band came to Cambodia for the first time, to perform in aid of nongovernmental organizations that support traditional arts. After touring Siem Reap, it played Parkway Studios in Phnom Penh on March 3, 2011. The concert raised money for Cambodia Living Arts and the Anvaya Initiative, a network for returning Cambodians. Friends of Khmer Culture sponsored the tour.[4]

In August 2012, The Like Me's released a music video for the international single "Behdong Khmean Kongval." The song is sung mainly in Khmer and was aimed at Cambodian and Cambodian-American listeners.[5]
