Sabai Sabai Southeast Asian Kitchen is a restaurant in Grapevine, Texas, serving dishes from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.[1] Its founder and owner, Nyda Sin, opened it with her family in early August 2019, after more than a decade of working in someone else's restaurant.[1] Sin has said that sabai sabai means "easy-going," and that she wants everyone who comes in to feel relaxed.[1]

Food

The menu gathers food found in Southeast Asian street markets, made from scratch, and runs from cool and refreshing dishes to spicy and savory ones. It follows the differences between the region's kitchens, from the sweetness of many Thai dishes to the more savory Lao tradition.[1] Fried rice and pho noodles are among the popular dishes, and pad thai comes wrapped in a thin omelet.[1] Starters include taro rolls with carrots, onions and clear noodles, Thai-Lao style beef jerky strips, and pork-and-lemongrass sausages that are steamed and then fried.[2]

Sin recommends the sticky rice custard, made with purple rice soaked in coconut cream and topped with egg custard and sesame seeds.[1]
