ReanKhmer Learn Khmer full course
The ReanKhmer Learn Khmer full course is an online Khmer course of 130 lessons, built for heritage speakers and the Cambodian diaspora.[1] It runs from the basics of Khmer script to advanced cultural fluency.[1]
About the resource
ReanKhmer designs the course for Cambodian Americans and the global Khmer diaspora, among them second- and third-generation heritage speakers, parents teaching their children, adoptees and partners of Cambodians. Complete beginners are welcome, and the first level assumes no prior knowledge. Lessons pair romanization with Khmer script and native-speaker audio. Cultural lessons tie the language to Cambodian history, temples, food and family customs.[2]
Learners build vocabulary with flashcards, spaced repetition and games. They read and write Khmer script, with tracing practice so that literacy grows alongside speaking and listening, and an AI pronunciation coach gives feedback on speech. Teachers can assign the same curriculum to a class.[2][3]
Contents
The course has 130 lessons in 19 units, across three levels. Beginner Khmer has 57 lessons in eight units and covers the Khmer script, everyday vocabulary, family terms, numbers and greetings. Advanced Khmer has 42 lessons in six units on history, regional dialects, classical literature and business Khmer.[1] The ReanKhmer home page counts more than 200 structured lessons across the site.[4]
The beginner units start with Khmer Script Foundation, nine lessons on the 33 consonants, 24 vowels, sub-consonants and how they combine, and Everyday Words, 12 lessons on body parts, clothing, food and daily objects.[3] Family and Respect (eight lessons) teaches family words, honorific pronouns and respectful speech.
