Mom's Cambodian Recipes
Mom's Cambodian Recipes is a cooking-video series that shows how to make Cambodian dishes from family recipes.[1][2] The recipes are shared from the creator's mother, and the videos are posted on YouTube under the name Moms Cambodian Recipes.[1][3]
History
The channel was founded in 2010 and offers simple videos on making traditional Cambodian recipes.[2] Its YouTube videos link to the same Facebook page that carries the series name.[3][1]
The videos
The videos from 2012 and 2013 include:[3][4][5]
- Bai Moan (roasted chicken rice), September 24, 2012, with English subtitles
- Somlor Gom-Dao Sach Moan (spicy chicken soup), September 26, 2012, with English subtitles
- Bok Ma Om (rice paddy herb dip), June 5, 2013
The series also includes Somlor Machu Kreung Sach Ko, a Cambodian beef soup with celery, and a video on making kroeung at home.[6] Another video shows bok choy with oyster garlic sauce.[7]
Reception
In 2013, The World Cup of Food adapted its bok choy recipe, stir-frying the bok choy instead of steaming it.[7] In 2014, Asian Markets of Philadelphia listed its beef soup video among the sources for a comparison of Cambodian recipes.[6] In 2015, Vulcan Post included Moms Cambodian Recipes in a roundup of eight YouTube channels for simple Southeast Asian dishes.[2]
