KAA Scholarship Program
The KAA Scholarship Program is an annual award from the Khmer Alumni Association for graduating Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) seniors of Cambodian descent.[1] Besides the cash award, each winner receives two years of private academic, career and personal counseling from professionally trained counselors.[1]
Sponsorship
The scholarship is run by the Khmer Alumni Association (KAA), which lists it among its active programs.[2] Johnny Sok, a former KAA director of student development, helped launch the association's student scholarships and its mentorship program.[3] KAA also runs the Khmer Alumni Association Mentorship Program (KAAMP), a free six-month mentorship for college students and alumni, and the KAA Leadership Award.
Award and support
In the 2019 cycle, two students were chosen for a non-renewable scholarship of $300 each. Each also received two years of private academic, career and personal counseling from professionally trained counselors.[1]
Eligibility
The scholarship is open to graduating LBUSD seniors of Cambodian descent.[1]
Application
The program was open to applications in both 2018 and 2019. In each year the deadline was May 31 at 5 p.m.[1]
