Golden Gem Jewelry Co. Inc. is a Cambodian jewelry store in the downtown jewelry district of Los Angeles, California, owned by Chay Leang Lim.[1][2]

History

The store occupies the same space as the first jewelry store of Jerry Young, a jeweler who fled Cambodia in 1975.[1][2] Young opened that shop in 1978 as Tory Jewelry Company, later renamed Inta Gems and Diamonds. It was the first Cambodian-owned jewelry shop in the downtown district.[1] By 2017 about 30 Cambodian jewelry stores were in the district, and such stores spread through close family networks. "It's a small town. Everyone knows everyone," Lim said that year.[1]
