Organization

The Cambodian Student Association at UC San Diego (CSA) is an undergraduate student organization at the University of California, San Diego.[1] It is a registered, nonprofit student group, independent of the university itself.[1][2] Its members work to strengthen Cambodian identity among themselves, fellow students and the wider community, and to support one another through activities and community service.[1][2]

Events

In spring 2012 CSA held a Khmer Culture Night, co-sponsored by the campus Cross-Cultural Center.[3] Its annual culture show brings together community performers, a scripted performance, a raffle and dinner. In the 2018-19 academic year CSA planned the Khmer Student Coalition Conference with support from the campus Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern Desi American (APIMEDA) office.[4] As of September 12, 2025, CSA was an affiliated organization of APIMEDA Programs and Services.[5]

Community

Membership has no formal rules and no fees. The association holds four general meetings each quarter; members are not required to attend but are encouraged to take part.[2] The group is listed among UC San Diego student organizations for the 2025-26 academic year.[6]

Leadership

CSA usually has seven or eight officers, who form an executive committee. The roles include one or more presidents, a vice president, secretary, treasurer, cultural coordinator, one or more outreach coordinators and a historian. Any UC San Diego student who has attended a meeting or event may apply. The outgoing officers choose the new ones in May, and they take office before the fall quarter. Only registered UC San Diego students may hold office or vote in officer elections.[2]
