Burd Chicken Rice is a restaurant in West Covina, California, serving Khmer-style chicken rice and Asian fusion food.[1][2] Dee Meas and Channy Chor founded it. It has a second restaurant in Long Beach, at 2930 Clark Avenue.[3][4]

Food

The chicken rice comes from Khmer-style family recipes of poached chicken, turmeric rice, ginger sauce and clear broth.[1] The Classic Burd is poached Hainan-style chicken over turmeric rice with ginger sauce and clear broth, and the Krispy Burd is fried chicken over turmeric rice with cucumber and fresh greens. The Combo Chicken Rice puts poached and roasted chicken on one plate, and the Mix Burd pairs two of the three chickens, poached, crispy fried or grilled lemongrass. Plates come with soup, ginger scallion sauce, chili-ginger sauce and shredded cabbage, with cilantro on top.[3][1] The restaurant says its chicken and rice are cooked fresh each morning and its sauces are made in-house.[1][3]

The menu also has Burd Bombs, bite-size pieces of crispy chicken tossed to order; a Lemongrass Burrito of grilled lemongrass chicken and rice; Honey BBQ Sriracha and Chili Ginger wings; and shoestring fries.[5][1] Sugarcane drinks are pressed in the restaurant, among them a 50/50 of sugarcane and coconut water and a sugarcane kumquat.[1][5] A family pack holds four chicken rice plates and four 50/50 drinks, and party trays serve 15 or 20 people.[6][5]

Visiting

Both restaurants offer dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering.[5][7][3][8]
