This listing is retained for historical reference and is not current visitor guidance. Retirement from the directory does not by itself establish closure.

History

Sokhoeun Chea bought the former Mittapheap restaurant property in December 2011 and renamed the restaurant Apsara Angkor. He had been a regular customer and lived a few blocks away. After taking over, he shortened the extensive menu and spoke with diners after their meals, passing their feedback to the chef.[1]

The dining room had tables along its walls and round tables for larger groups. Cambodian pop played from a television in the storefront window, and pastel-colored lights illuminated paintings of rural Cambodian villages.[1] The restaurant also hosted karaoke.[2]

Food

Apsara Angkor kept Mittapheap's whole fried fish, offering tilapia or flounder with chili or sweet-and-sour sauce. The fish came with romaine, tomatoes and cucumbers. Other dishes included fresh vegetarian spring rolls with peanut sauce and spicy cabbage with carrots and white radishes.[1]

The menu also included beef loc lac, fried rice, beef teriyaki, a special noodle soup, shrimp rolls, egg rolls and spring rolls.[3]
