Organization

777 Noodle House is a restaurant on University Avenue in San Diego, run by an ethnically Chinese family from Cambodia.[1] The family is Chiu Chow, or Teochew, and the restaurant occupies a former pool hall.[1] Its owner is Ly Lau, and it serves breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.[2]

History

Lau chose the location in City Heights for its closeness to neighboring cultural enclaves.[2]

Food

The menu brings together Chinese, Thai, Cambodian and Vietnamese dishes.[1][3] The San Diego Reader has suggested that its range may reflect the family's travels.[1] Among the restaurant's customer favorites are Thai spicy noodles, thick rice noodles pan-fried with basil, peppers and a choice of meat in a house-made sauce, and kabobs of chicken or beef, marinated, grilled and served with pickled papaya salad.[3] Lau herself recommends the beef kabob, mì Triều Châu and the dry Chou Zhou egg noodle soup. Visiting

Parking is behind the restaurant.[1]
